Important Safety Information

Boxed Warning

WARNING: RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS. In rodents, GLP-1 receptor agonists caused dose-dependent and treatment-duration-dependent thyroid C-cell tumors at clinically relevant exposures. It is unknown whether GLP-1 medications cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans. GLP-1 medications are contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

  • Pancreatitis: Acute pancreatitis has been reported with GLP-1 receptor agonists. Discontinue promptly if pancreatitis is suspected. Do not restart if confirmed.
  • Acute Kidney Injury: Cases of acute kidney injury have been reported, sometimes requiring dialysis. Use caution in patients with renal impairment.
  • Hypoglycemia: When used with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia is increased.
  • Contraindications: Do not use in patients with a personal or family history of MTC, MEN 2, or known hypersensitivity to the active substance.
